South Australia announces health reform drive
The South Australian Government has announced the appointment of two senior public servants to assist in establishing the Health Reform Advisory Committee (HRAC) which will drive the Government's reform agenda of the Department of Health and Ageing.
State Minister for Health and Ageing, Jack Snelling, announced the appointment of Chief Executive of the Department of Premier and Cabinet, Jim Hallion, and Under Treasurer Brett Rowse.
Mr Snelling said the establishment of the new Committee will come as the changes to the executive structure and further streamlining of the bureaucracy of the Department of Health and Ageing to create annual savings of more than $1.3 million.
Mr Hallion and Mr Rowse will be joined on the HRAC by the current Chief Executive of the Department for Health and Ageing David Swan and former New South Wales and Queensland Health Director General Professor Mick Reid.
“The HRAC will drive reform in the state’s health system and make sure it is operating as efficiently as possible. It will operate for at least 12 months," Mr Snelling said.
Mr Snelling announced the changes to the executive structure of the department, with Steve Archer and Jenny Richter to be appointed as two new Deputy Chief Executives.
