CREW LEAD - ARV (PART TIME, PERMANENT)

Ambulance Victoria's Adult Retrieval Victoria division is a single contact point for Major Trauma Advice (Adult and Paediatric), Adult Critical Care, Advice, Critical Care Bed Access, and Retrieval of Critical Care Adult Patients State-wide. We are seeking an experienced Crew Leader who monitors and continuously improves processes, ensuring excellence in patient care standards by CCRNs and PTOs in line with Ambulance Victoria's Best Care principles.

About the role

The Crew Lead will provide expert, specialist advice, support and leadership to ARV Critical Care Registered Nurses (CCRN) and ARV Patient Transport Officers (PTO) to provide effective, high quality inter-hospital transport and clinical care of medium to high acuity patients (and other patients as deemed necessary).

This position is a permanent, part time opportunity (0.5 FTE - 19 hours per week), primarily based in Metropolitan Melbourne. (currently working remotely, likely return to onsite in the new year).  There is scope for the successful candidate to work up to 0.7 FTE (26.6 hours per week) if preferred.

Reporting to the Operations Manager Adult Retrieval Victoria, the responsibilities of this position will include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and manage CCRNs and PTOs to deliver excellence in operational service delivery and support the CCRN and PTO function on day of operations to deliver on operational performance.
  • Support design, facilitate and conduct staff clinical coaching and skill development to maintain and enhance the capability of CCRNs and PTOs
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Lead to optimally deliver the ARV transport function and ensure optimal performance
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and coach team members to build positive engagement experience with their stakeholders
  • Identify performance risk and escalate in line with established Business Continuity planning
  • Ensure completion of clinical reports, review and investigations within endorsed timeframes

About you

To be considered for this position you are required to have the following tertiary qualifications

  • Registered Nurse Division 1 with current AHPRA\registration
  • Post graduate qualification Critical Care and/or Emergency nursing practise
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support Accreditation
  • CCRN with at least 5 years' recent experience in a critical care or emergency setting

(Critical Care Retrieval Nursing experience highly desired)

To be successful, you will be known for your proven leadership and coaching skills together with demonstrated experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of process improvement across operational service delivery and performance.

You will be highly motivated and proactive in your management approach, work collaboratively when engaging with various stakeholders and deliver, expert clinical input and recommendations as required. Sound experience and understanding of compliance with relevant legislation, acts and mandated organisational frameworks and policies is essential for this role.

The successful candidate must have a current Victorian Driver's License and be willing to travel throughout metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria when required. The expectation is that this role will be remunerated in alignment with Nurses and Midwives award classification RNG4B1.
