The Verification and Validation Engineer is a key role in the V&V space. They are responsible for ensuring the output of high-quality products, delivered on time to our customers by defining, planning, executing, and reporting V&V testing as needed within the R&D product portfolio. The role has an eye for user-facing product quality, reliability, and user-centric design principles. The role includes multiple responsibilities such as collaborating with other V&V Engineers, Quality Engineers, and different R&D stakeholders/roles, deploying V&V plans.

The Opportunity

Cochlear has an opportunity for a 12-month fixed term Verification and Validation Engineer based in our Macquarie Sydney office. In this role, the successful Verification and Validation Engineer will ensure that the products tested meet the needs of the business and the customer.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and update tests for design verification and validation. Support the development of test cases, perform protocol-based testing.
  • Understand and operate system, hardware, software, and embedded software to debug test failures.
  • Follow all applicable development processes and methodologies. These may be part of internal policies, applicable international standards, applicable regulatory requirements and/or specific team processes.
  • Deliver assigned verification and validation components of releases by managing small to medium projects, features or subtasks from start to finish.
  • Collaborate across multiple projects and feature teams to ensure good quality delivery of V&V activities.
  • Train overseas partners on delegated V&V delivery tasks pertaining to relevant products, processes, and testing methods applicable to their location.

About You. As we grow our operations, we are looking for people who share our passion for delivering quality hearing solutions to our customers. To add value to Cochlear in this role, you'll be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

Required Skills:

  • Either tertiary qualification in relevant field of computing / engineering / science (e.g., Electrical, Electronics, Software Engineering, Mechatronics) OR at least 3 years' experience in a full lifecycle commercial software development environment, delivering formal verification and validation for consumer facing devices.
  • Knowledge and understanding of, and preferably experience in, system, embedded or other software development or testing.
  • Experience in cross-functional thinking and problem solving.
  • Experience managing tasks within a team successfully.
  • Good communication skills.

Desired skills:

  • Experience in hardware or software testing, design, and development.
  • Experience in and understanding of electronics and electronic test equipment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of test automation.
  • Knowledge and understanding of coding using Python, C, Java, C++, or C#.
  • Experience and understanding of medical device testing.
