What you'll be doing The vision for South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) is ‘exceptional care, healthier lives’. The Childhood Obesity Prevention Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and supporting a range of projects and initiatives primarily aiming to achieve the NSW Premier’s priority to reduce overweight and obesity rates of children by 5% over 10 years.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. Please provide proof of booster vaccination if available.

Selection Criteria

  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or extensive experience in health promotion, public health or population health.
  2. Knowledge of evidence based population wide approaches to overweight and obesity and how they must be applied in different settings and population groups.
  3. Demonstrated skills and experience in planning, implementing and evaluating large scale projects.
  4. Demonstrated ability to develop, manage and maintain internal and external stakeholder relationships to facilitate planning, implementation and evaluation of actions.
  5. Demonstrated experience providing high level strategic advice regarding population health approaches and issues.
  6. Experience working with managers and clinical staff across working with clinical settings (e.g. hospitals and community health) and local communities including local councils, non-government organisations and community groups.
  7. Strong communication and organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines.
  8. Current unrestricted driver’s licence.
