The Opportunity
In your role as Casual Youth Worker, you will be responsible for supporting the development, implementation, administration and evaluation of Youth engagement, projects, programs, and events across the City of Maribyrnong.
You will also contribute to specific activities and programmatic responses for young people that support their wellbeing, access and voice. In addition to this, you will provide capacity building opportunities for young people to participate in, connect with and contribute to their community.
Key Responsibilities
- Working with a youth participation and social justice and equity framework, support the participation of a diverse range of local young people.
- Ensure program activities are undertaken in a safe and supportive, youth friendly environment and that risks are identified, appropriately responded to and managed.
- Respond to the needs of young people through providing information and referral as needed.
- Undertake administrative and communication tasks generated by the position, including program planning, and data collection.
- Assist staff in the day to day running of the Phoenix Youth Centre, supporting bookings, reception, and administration duties as required.
About You
To be considered for this role, you will have the following:
- Tertiary qualification is desirable for entry into the Youth Work field or currently studying to obtain.
- Experience of working with young people within a community development context or other relevant area is desirable.
- Knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices of youth work and community development including the Code of Ethical Practice for the Victorian Youth Sector
- Current Level 2 First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain.
- Current Working with Children's Check.
- No relevant criminal record found in police check.
