The plant employs approximately 500 team members with a current processing capacity of 700 head of beef cattle per day, operating 6 days/week.

About the Role

Due to a recent internal development opportunity, our JBS Rockhampton Plant is currently recruiting an experienced Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) Coordinator to join our team in a full-time capacity. Reporting to the Plant Manager, the WHS Coordinator is responsible for partnering with the senior management team to ensure all safety and legislative requirements are met across the Plant.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Utilising the WHS Safety Management System to plan and review compliance
  • Timely investigation and completion of incident investigations and safety reports
  • Identifying and reporting all WHS risks and hazards
  • Reviewing completed Safety Observations and implementing recommendations
  • Maintaining and reviewing Safety Data Sheets and chemical registers
  • Completing monthly WHS reports and WHS site meetings
  • Developing and conducting Toolbox Talks to promote safety awareness
  • Assisting with enquiries from site health and safety representatives
  • Participate in WHS internal and external audits and inspections
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders regarding WHS, with a focus on continuous improvement and best practice
  • Consulting with staff and promoting site awareness and engagement of WHS

About You

  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing or processing environment
  • Compliant with Emergency Preparation and Fire Safety Programs
  • First Aid Certificate advantageous
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of management, including knowledge sharing through training and continuous improvement programs
  • Experience with the compilation of corporate injury investigations and reports
  • Demonstrated awareness of WHS Act 2011 and accompanying Regulations, Codes of Practice and Guidelines
  • Proven initiative and solid problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
  • Strong computer literacy skills, specifically within MS Office and applications
