ABOUT THE ROLE

The Aeromedical Control Centre Clinical Nurse Specialist (ACC CNS) triages, facilitates the provision of clinical advice and sources an appropriate receiving hospital when required for acutely and critically ill patients. The ACC CNS monitors patient transfer to ensure clinically appropriate progress and provide ongoing education and support to Rural Health workers in accordance to policy frameworks available.

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate the following experience and capabilities:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with a demonstrated ability to maintain registration as required by the regulatory authority.
  • Recently acquired 3 years critical care nursing experience in either an Emergency Department, ICU/HDU or retrieval environment. Additionally a minimum of 2 years Full Time Equivalent ED experience and 1 year Full Time Equivalent demonstrated triage experience or triage experience in a similar environment.
  • Demonstrated advanced critical care assessment, care planning and problem solving skills for acutely ill and critically ill patients. Ability to triage and identify the clinical needs of patients in an environment of competing priorities independently.
  • Relevant post graduate qualifications, such as a graduate certificate in emergency, critical care, intensive care, aviation nursing or similar, and above. Tertiary hospital experience and midwifery qualifications are desirable.
  • Sound understanding of the NSW Health Trauma, Critical Care Networks Policy Directives and ability to apply these in the context of patient transfer decision making.
  • Demonstrated high level interpersonal skills in communication, consultation, negotiation and conflict resolution in multidisciplinary groups as they relate to patient care.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and the ability to work as a member of a team and act as a resource and mentor to others in relation to clinical practice.
