We are currently seeking Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified Registered Nurses who are looking for an exciting career opportunity within the Cancer Centre for Children in the Paediatric Cancer Genetics Risk CNC2 position at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
 
This is a full time, temporary contract, commencing January 2025 through to 22nd June 2026.
 
The Paediatric Cancer Genetics Risk Clinical Nurse Consultant, grade 2 (CNC2) will develop and implement service frameworks for the Kids with Cancer -Paediatric Cancer Genetic Risk (CGR) Program, as well as coordinate the management and follow up of patients identified as having Cancer Predisposition Syndromes. What you'll be doing
The Clinical Nurse / Midwife Consultant ( CNC/CMC) will provide expert clinical care and education to children and their families within a defined specialty.  
 
The role provides a consultancy and educational focus for ward based nurses in the care of children and their families.  
 
In collaboration and consultation with key stakeholders, the CNC/CMC will undertake primary responsibility for on-going education, development and evaluation of clinical practice.  
  1. Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a minimum of 5 years full time post qualification experience, with at least three years full time equivalent experience in the specialty field.
  2. Relevant approved post registration qualification in field of practice at Master’s level or working towards or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital or public health organisation
  3. Proven clinical leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in nursing practice
  4. Demonstrated high level communication and inter- personal skills
  5. Proven ability to implement changes and develop direction in clinical practice by the utilisation of evidence based research
  6. Demonstrated skills in strategic and clinical service planning and including an understanding of organisational behaviour, change management and cultural changes processes
  7. Demonstrated competency in the use of contemporary information systems and clinical teaching and development of specialty education programs
  8. Demonstrated provision of a child and family centred consultancy with the ability to work independently
