About the Role

Under the broad direction of the Pro Vice Chancellor: Health and Medical Research and Engagement, you will implement and conduct high quality scientific research in genito-urinary cancers, predominantly prostate cancer, and report on research outcomes in line with research goals and milestones of the Centre for Cancer Biology.  

The project, based at the University of South Australia (UniSA) will focus on the characterisation of novel kinase inhibitors of inflammatory signalling and their potential utility in targeting the progression and therapeutic resistance of advanced prostate cancers. This project will be conducted in collaboration with the University of Strathclyde and Glasgow University.

About the Centre for Cancer Biology 

The Centre for Cancer Biology (CCB) is an alliance between the University of South Australia and the Central Adelaide Local Health Network (CALHN) and is co-located with other cancer-focussed researchers within a purpose-built building in Adelaide’s Biotech and Medical Precinct. The CCB studies the fundamental causes of cancer in order to find new ways to prevent and treat the disease and is a recognised hub for innovative science leading to breakthrough therapies.

Essential Skills and Experience 

  • Doctoral degree in a biomedical related discipline, with direct relevance to basic and translational cancer research
  • Experience in exploiting in vitro organoid and explant models of disease to characterise drug response and mechanisms of action
  • Demonstrated participation in relevant areas of research and knowledge of prostate cancer literature and laboratory procedures relevant to the study of prostate cancer, and pre-clinical evaluation of drug response
  • Knowledge of scientific and medical terminology relevant to the research project/program
