Senior Media and Communications Advisor

About the role

Full time fixed-term position (for 12 months) based in either Parkville VIC, Milton QLD or North Ryde NSW. Reporting directly to the Manager Media and Communications, you will be responsible for:

  • Assisting with the development and delivery of comprehensive media and communications initiatives
  • Developing engaging content for internal and external communications channels including the Dementia Australia newsletter (eNews), intranet, media releases, and social media
  • Building effective relationships across all departments to ensure appropriate and effective media and communications tools and processes are provided as part of awareness raising, fundraising and advocacy campaigns
  • Developing and writing reports to support Dementia Australia's strategic objectives and priorities
  • Developing proactive media strategies and responding to reactive and ad hoc media and campaign requests
  • Coordination of proactive organic social media scheduling and content generation
  • Ensuring regular media monitoring (social and traditional media)
  • Advising on emerging risks for Dementia Australia's reputation through traditional and social media and other channels

About you?

To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone with the following:

  1. A tertiary qualification in Marketing, Communications or Media (or related field).
  2. Over 2 years' experience with demonstrated success in a senior media or communications role.
  3. Experience in developing, implementing and reviewing a successful strategic media and communications campaigns and plans.
  4. Proven success in collaborating across multiple teams and mentoring.
  5. A proven ability to build productive relationships both throughout the organisation and with external contacts.
  6. Ability to think critically and act on the broader purpose of the organisation.
  7. Proficient ability in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of programs.
