Board Director

 

The Hospital Research Foundation (THRF) Group is looking to appoint up to three new Board Directors.

THRF Group exists for every Australian. Our purpose is simple – together, fight for better health and wellbeing for our community through life-changing medical research and improved healthcare.

We are a profit-for-purpose organisation aspiring towards a healthy community and wellbeing for all. We raise funds through community donations, corporate support, and proceeds from our lottery program, enabling us to fund and facilitate medical research and patient care services across Australia.

We are a group of charities united – a collective tribe of causes rallying together to fulfill a mutual purpose and make an impact through efficiency and collaboration.

We are always keen to engage with highly motivated professionals with diverse skills and life experience. As part of this recruitment process, we will be looking to appoint candidates that can demonstrate these attributes. In addition, preference will be paid to candidates with standout professional experience in the following areas:

  • Director or Senior Executive in their field of expertise.
  • Observation and assessment of financial reporting.
  • Formal qualifications and/or corporate experience in finance/legal/people and culture/marketing and communications.
  • Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors or equivalent.
  • Previous not-for-profit sector Director experience.

  • A passion for the contribution that medical research and patient care makes to the Australian community.
  • Philosophical connection to the cause.
  • The ability to actively participate in strategic decision making and the aptitude to concur with the democratic resolution of the group and actively promote THRF Group’s agreed direction.
  • The ability to share and engage effective professional networks and relationships about the mission of THRF Group.
  • Willingness to support the activities of THRF Group when able.
  • The ability to demonstrate initiative and innovative thinking.
  • A positive attitude and a motivated, enthusiastic, and outgoing approach.
  • Board positions are not remunerated, and the average time commitment expected of Directors is approximately six to eight hours per month. Board meetings are scheduled up to twelve months in advance and are held monthly late afternoon.
  • Directors are expected to participate in one or more of the following Board subcommittees:
    • Finance and Audit;
    • Human Resources and Remuneration;
    • Governance and Risk;
    • Technology and Cyber Security
    • Clinical Governance.

Applications from candidates from across Australia are welcome with video teleconferencing technologies available to attend board meetings. With Directors required to attend 3 - 4 Board meetings per year in Adelaide, South Australia (THRF Group will arrange and fund Director's travel and accommodation for these meetings).

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview with members of the current THRF Group Board.
